Clash of the Titans Walkthrough

Posted on: September 7, 2011

Use this full text and HD video walkthrough of the video game Clash of the Titans to battle the ferocious monsters of Greek mythology, including the Cyclops, the Chimera, and the massive Kraken. Ride the Pegasus, and save the beautiful Princess Andromeda. Based on the 2010 remake of the cult classic film from 1981, developed by Game Republic and published by Namco Bandai, the game was released on July 27, 2010, to coincide with the DVD and Blu-ray release of the movie. The game is available Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Like the movie on which it's based, Clash of the Titans follows the adventures of the mythical hero Perseus. No ordinary man, Perseus is the son of the mighty god Zeus. As such, he has special powers and immunities that fit him perfectly to defend humanity against the wrath of the gods. When all out war is declared between the gods and mankind, only Perseus stands any chance of saving humanity from eternal slavery and subjugation. In the movie, the struggle between gods and man triggers countless scenes of action and peril, set amidst the rich and varying backdrop of Greek mythology. In the video game, all those elements are present in abundance, and Perseus' quest takes on an even more epic feel, with expanded plot points and missions to compliment the story told by the movie. A deep upgrade system allows you to customize Perseus to your own play-style, and max out the stats on your favorite weapon. You'll need all the help you can get, as Perseus battles his way through the whole pantheon of mythic Greek monsters, from the vicious Chimera to the mighty Kraken, an enormous sea monster hungry for the sacrifice of young maidens.

Story

When the growing power of humanity leads to arrogant defiance of the gods, brother deities Zeus, Poseidon and Hades decide to put the uprising down ruthlessly, reasserting their supremacy and plunging mankind into abject, trembling servitude. The only hope for humanity lies in Perseus, an apparently unremarkable fisherman. Orphaned as a child, Perseus has no idea that his real father is none other than Zeus, king of the gods. As a demigod, Perseus has a special status somewhere in the limbo between god and man, granting him superhuman powers and strength, but also marking him out as a prime target of the gods, and of their vast panoply of servants, from Harpes to Gorgons to Minotaurs. With little time to deal with the revelation of his own identity, Perseus must set out on an epic quest to stop the gods' dark designs for humanity, and save his beloved Princess Andromeda from being devoured by the ravenous sea creature known as the Kraken.

Gameplay

Action adventure in the mode made popular by the God of War series, Clash of the Titans forces you to battle ever-more-powerful hordes of enemies as you seek to finish each quest. Some of the objectives and scenes are drawn directly from the movie, while others are unique to the game, making the game a sort of playable, expanded director's cut of the movie. Plenty of bosses will appear along the way as well, drawn from the multitude of strange beasts that populate Greek mythology. To increase variety and customization, weapons and moves can be upgraded. You can work on your favorite sword until it's a truly devastating implement of destruction, but you'd better give some attention to the rest of your arsenal too, as some enemies can only be killed by specific weapon types.

Film

The game is based closely on the 2010 remake of the 1981 film. The story differs substantially between the two versions of the movie, though the same basic themes of man vs. gods and the heroic defiance of fate are present in both. The 2010 version features Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Alexa Davalos as Princess Andromeda, and Sam Worthington as Perseus, as well as the cutting-edge technology used in reproducing some of the most fantastic monsters to ever appear in mythology.

Island of Paxos

Quest 1: The Siren's Song

In your first quest, you'll learn the basics of combat. In order to begin, speak to the group of fishermen near your starting location. The group includes your father, who's reluctant to let you fight the siren that's taken up residence at the village dock. The fishermen can't fish while the monster's there, so someone will have to fight her. Despite your father's objections, it's up to you.

Once you engage the quest, head toward the path along the beach. In the next area, you'll find a few skeletons, and the siren herself. She'll lob sonic attacks at you while you battle the lesser foes, providing you with a good opportunity to practice dodging, as well as switching targets, during combat. Take out any skeletons that get too close, and keep attacking the siren. This will prevent her from attacking you, as well as furthering the quest. The siren will teleport around the area periodically, but you should be able to find and attack her pretty quickly, since this isn't a very large battlefield. Fend off the skeletons, and keep at the siren. She's a bit tougher than the skeletons, but she's no real threat. Once she's eliminated, your first quest will be over.

Quest 2: Finding Tekla

You'll receive this quest from your mother, who you'll find on the porch nearby. Your little sister has gone to worship the gods, and your mother is worried about her, so it's up to you to find her and bring her back to the village. Head along the path just past your house, and through the gate into the mountains.

There are skeletons along the mountain paths you'll need to follow; take them out as they appear. You'll find Tekla in the area accessible through the passageway marked in red on your map. Talk to her at the base of the idol, then head back the way you came.

Unfortunately, you can't return directly, since there's a boulder blocking your path. In order to proceed, you'll have to acquire a hammer from one of the tougher skeletons around this area. To do so, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Seize the skeleton's hammer, and use it on the rock. In order to charge up your soul meter, which powers secondary weapons like the hammer, you'll have to steal soul from enemies. The process is explained here, as the next step in your tutorial. When you have enough soul, smash through the rock, and return to the village to finish the quest. Be sure to talk to your family again in the village once this quest is over to move things along.

Quest 3: The Undead Swarm

Talk to your father again to trigger this quest, which requires you to head back into the mountains and destroy the source of the monsters there. After accepting the quest, head through the gates again to begin.

You'll have to fight several different types of enemies here, and each will require a different strategy. The skeletons here have shields, hindering your frontal assaults. You can quickly dodge around behind them to score hits, or simply use your hammer, which will bash straight through their shields, taking them out easily. These skeletons carry small, dual-wielded swords; seizing them will give you a new sub weapon, which will in turn be useful on the floating enemies you'll encounter shortly. These guys are tough if you try to use your regular sword, but they'll fold with just a few shots of dual-wielded swords. Stealing their sub weapons will grant you the healing core, which, when used, will regenerate a small amount of health. The slow, shambling enemies here are pretty weak, and make good sources of soul energy, which you'll need as you use your sub weapons against the tougher foes. Remember to steal sub weapons and soul energy frequently, as both are useful, even if you already have the weapon in question. Once you've finished off this group of enemies, your quest will be finished.

Quest 4: A Few Good Men

Speak to the soldier in the center of the village to obtain this quest. Be sure you've done everything you want to do here before accepting this quest; it'll lead you to a new location, and you won't be able to return.

After learning of the missing soldiers, head through the gates toward the mountain. This quest is fairly straightforward. You'll have to make your way along the mountain paths, destroying the many skeletons in your way, sometimes doing a little platforming when the path is broken up into small sections. There are various types of skeletons, including the basic sword-wielders, those with shields, and those with bone hammers. Use your own hammer on the ones with shields, and steal any sub weapons you can, so you'll be able to reinforce the ones you have. Jump across the small platforms when necessary; falling won't kill you, only take some health.

Some of the sheer rock walls can be climbed; you'll have to do so to continue. Just press A near them, then climb with the Left Stick. This quest is just a matter of pushing ever forward, taking out any enemies you encounter, until you reach the river. There, you'll find the massacred soldiers, and the one remaining survivor. Run over to him to trigger a cutscene. Before he joins his comrades in the underworld, he'll share some important information with you. It turns out that the soldiers were annihilated by Hades himself.

Quest 5: The Village

You'll return to the village automatically once you've completed the previous mission. there, you'll find Hades, the god of the underworld. You'll also find the village a flaming ruin. After speaking to Hades, run down the path toward the beach. There, you'll have to fight a few monsters, including some skeletons, a harpy, and a large beast that burrows up from underground. Here you'll learn about chain seize, which will enable you to drain soul energy from every enemy on the screen at once. You'll be able to do so when your main weapon flashes and glows. In order to build up this ability, deal damage to the enemies in the area. Concentrate on the skeletons, since they're the easiest to hit. Once your sword glows, hold down the Right Button to initiate chain seize. This should take out any enemies remaining in the area, and finish the quest.

Argos

Quest 1: Welcome to Argos

After your encounter with Hades, you were fished out of the sea by the fleeing soldiers, and brought back to their home base, the city of Argos. Argos is the center of the human war with the gods, so don't expect much peace and quiet here. After the brief conversation between the soldiers at the city's gate, follow the soldier into the city, and a cutscene.

After the banquet is interrupted, you'll have to battle a large group of animated statues. Use your hammer here. Bash the statues until they're ready for a sub weapon seize, and use this technique to take them out. Fight your way toward the main doors, where you'll find a couple of larger, more dangerous statues. Besides being tougher than their smaller cousins, these large statues shoot lasers from their eyes. Dodge to avoid this dangerous attack, and bash the statues with your hammer. They'll take more hits than the smaller ones, but four or five hammer blows should do the trick. Seizing their sub weapons will grant you the Martial Arts Core, which will enable you to do special attacks, which will penetrate enemy guards. Steal both of the large statues' cores, and destroy them. Clear the room of enemies to trigger another cutscene, and finish the quest.

Quest 2: Monsters in the Streets

Before they'll let you embark on your quest to save Andromeda, the powers that be in Argos want to test your skills as a warrior. Speak to Draco, the head of the city's guards, to get this quest, as well as the next two. You can do these three quests in whatever order you like, although you'll have to do all three eventually.

This quest entails venturing out into the street and destroying a large pack of swamp monsters, and a few skeletons. The frog-like swamp monsters are very weak--at least the normal ones are--and will take no more than a strong attack from your main sword to destroy. There are a lot of them, but they still pose little threat. Just eliminate them as quickly as you can. When the skeletons appear, note that they carry axes, a new type of sub weapon for you to steal. Do so, and destroy the skeletons.

Once you've taken out the first wave of monsters, you'll have to battle another, which includes several more aggressive swamp monsters, and one very large one. These monsters will attack more quickly, so it's important to take them out as quickly as you can. The large one is a real danger. You main sword is the best weapon against him; keep carving him up to prevent him from attacking. He'll hop across the area rapidly and continue the assault if you get separated from him. Dodge him if you can, and keep hitting him. He's tougher than the smaller swamp monsters, of course, but he won't take too many hits before he too is destroyed. When he is, the quest is over.
